Martha's Story
Our inspiring story of Martha, a young woman diagnosed with autism and a learning disability, who was inappropriately placed in a hospital setting under the mental health act for a year.
Recognising the inadequacy of her environment for her actual needs, we intervened, crafting a personalised care package to relocate Martha to a community setting closer to her family.
Through the efforts of a multidisciplinary team, including Positive Behavioural Support practitioners and learning disability nurses, Martha was moved to a refurbished home where she began to thrive.
The video highlights her journey towards independence, featuring her engaging in activities like swimming, art, and even attending college courses. It showcases the significant improvement in her ability to self-regulate, her growing independence, and the joy she finds in her new life, surrounded by a supportive team who views her not just as a client but as a friend.
